Our Story

Gardens began in 1981 as a landscape architectural firm in Austin, Texas.  In the years since, the company has grown to include a retail nursery, home and garden store in Austin (shown in photo) along with a recently opened store in Dallas.  Our landscape design and construction firm has offices in both cities, and continues to win awards for outstanding achievement in both residential and commercial arenas.  The stores have garnered national press with their intriguing displays of unique, well-designed products sought out for discriminating clientele.  Simplicity, elegance and integrity are the guiding principals in all aspects of our company.

Gardens is both a place and an idea… a place to buy simple, exquisite things, and an idea about sensory clarity in one’s surroundings.  The focus at Gardens is on items that are well designed and well made, many of which are not available anywhere else in the state.  The mix includes modern and antique furniture, unique gifts, books, bath and body products, gourmet food and kitchen goods.  Variety and surprise mix with necessity.  Whether it is a bar of pomegranate soap from Italy, and antique Chinese table, or a beautiful succulent, shoppers know they’ll find something they love.
